BlephEx is an effective treatment for MGD (Meibomian Gland Dysfunction), Blepharitis, and Dry Eye. 

We are pleased to be able to offer this at Pinder Eyecare and the procedure can be done alone or as part of a Dry Eye consultation for IPL treatment.

What is BlephEx?

The procedure involves a deep clean of the margins of the eyelid. A small rotating bud safely removes debris and bacteria from the area, therefore removing the root of the eyelid problems.

BlephEx and Blepharitis

Blepharitis is an inflammation of the eyelid where the lids become red, irritated and gritty. It is a bacterial condition and usually involves a flaky or sticky debris around the base of the lashes. BlephEx is very effective in removing this debris and the bacteria causing the inflammation.

BlephEx and MGD/Dry Eye

MGD can be improved by BlephEx due to effective removal of excess oils on the eyelid margins, and microexfoliation of the glands to promote release of meibum (oil) into the lipid layer of the tears. This reduces inflammation and alleviates the symptoms of dry eye.
